Today was our first full day in Costa Rica. Our schedule for the day consists of breakfast, visiting a local orphanage, lunch, going to a doka coffee tour, and dinner. For breakfast we had rice, beans, meatballs, fresh fruit, and cereal. As weird as it sounds, it was actually very good. After breakfast we got on the bus and drove to a local supermarket called 'Mas-Menos' which means more for less! At the market, we bought a bunch of stuff for the kids at the orphanage. We bought stuff like diapers, lotion, shampoo, baby food, etc.Once we finished at the supermarket, we got on the bus and drove to the orphanage which was about 20-30 minutes away from where we were. On the drive over there we seen some very neat stuff, and asked many questions. When we finally arrived at the orphanage, all the kids were very shy. Since we didn't want to scare the kids, we only entered 5 people at a time. After everyone was in, and was there for about 10 minutes, the kids started warming up to us, and played soccer, coloured, and let us hold them.At the end of our visit, we brought in all of our gifts, and said goodbye. We then drove to the doka coffee tour place and waited to have lunch, and the tour. When we got there, the lunch wasn't quite ready yet, so we walked over into the butterfly garden, where there were hundreds of beautiful butterflies.Once we were finished in the butterfly garden we went and had lunch. After lunch we went on the actual doka coffee tour where we learnt the process of making coffee. We got to learn how the plant grows, when the beans need to get picked, how they get separated into good and bad quality beans, how they get dried, and roasted. We drove back to the hotel after the coffee tour, and got to have dinner, swim, and relax. It was a very good experience and I would do it again any day!
